Abdi Aidid, co-author of The Legal Singularity: How Artificial Intelligence Can Make Law Radically Better: Professor Aidid is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto and a Faculty Affiliate at the Centre for Ethics and a member of the Ethics of AI Lab. Professor Aidid has practical experience as a litigator and arbitrator at Covington & Burling LLP in New York City, and as the VP of Legal Research at Blue J, where he oversaw the development of machine learning-enabled legal research tools.
Angela Swan, Counsel at Aird & Berlis LLP and Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School: With over 50 years in the legal profession, Angela Swan has expertly filled a number of roles from professor to esteemed counsel. An award-winning author, educator, and frequently cited scholar, she is one of the most distinguished experts in Canadian contract law. For her long-standing contribution to the legal profession, she was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada in 2021.
The Honourable Justice Joseph F. Kenkel of the Ontario Court of Justice: Justice Kenkel was appointed Technology Advisor to the Chief Justice in 2021. He is working on several projects for Ontario’s Courts Digital Transformation. He has been a member of the Chief Justice’s IT Committee which oversees technology issues for all three courts in the province since 2000. As a lawyer he was the defence representative to the Integrated Justice technology project in the late 1990’s.
Jennifer Belz, Senior Product Manager at LexisNexis: Jennifer is a licensed US attorney and an experienced product manager who has brought many innovations to the legal market. She has an expert understanding of legal research and research products, having worked in the legal technology space for her entire career. She is currently Senior Product Manager for Advanced Search Capabilities and Search Strategy on the Lexis+ platform.
